The last few weeks I’ve been working on some small projects around the homestead. Nothing huge, but I’ve had several small projects that had to be worked on. Through it all, I was reminded of a simple truth: A solid foundation is vital.
Without a solid foundation to build upon, nothing will have the structural integrity to stand; everything built on a skewed foundation will be skewed as well.
On a project I started a few weeks ago, I made a rookie mistake: I didn’t take the time to make sure the ground was level. Because of this oversight, everything I worked on after that was much more difficult than it should’ve been. Instead of continuing to build proactively, I had to spend a lot of time reacting to issues that arose because my foundation wasn’t firm.
As I built, I thought about the spiritual application of this truth. There are many people in our society today that long to make a difference, but their actions are stunted or misguided because they aren't building on the sure foundation. Without a firm foundation, we run the risk of wasting our time building something that won’t withstand the storms that rage around us.
Without a firm foundation rooted in Christ, and without a clear foundation built upon the truth, nothing we build will last. When all the lies of the enemy are destroyed, only the truth will remain. Only what we do for God’s Kingdom will last.
If you desire to make a difference, be sure you’re building on the unchanging truth. Just as a faulty foundation will weaken whatever is built upon it, a firm foundation upon the Solid Rock will weather any storm.
Let’s continue to work, build, and grow upon the foundation of TRUTH.
“For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.”
1 Corinthians 3:11
“Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.”
Luke 6:47-49
