The last several weeks I've spent a lot of time laying on my back and looking up the ceiling. It's easy to get discouraged when the pain of this life surrounds us, and I'd be lying if I said I hadn't battled discouragement the last few weeks.
However, it's in those moments when you find yourself on your back that you're in the perfect position to look up and listen to hear what God has to say.
I shifted my focus beyond the ceiling and started to think about all the blessings in my life. First and foremost, Jesus Christ went to the cross to save me from sin. I've been blessed with a lovely wife and wonderful children. I've got a close family who loves each other. We are healthy for the most part, with no life threatening illnesses. I've got a job that helps provide for our needs. We live in a Country that, while there is much evil we're continuing to fight, we can still worship freely. The longer I think about it, the longer the list gets.
BUT, I realized that even if any of the things I listed above were to change, God never will. He is still God; He is still on the Throne and we can still trust Him.
Sure, the storms of this life can be overwhelming...but God is SO good through it all. Satan works hard to discourage us, but he can't keep us down when we stay focused on God and His goodness.
Our current situations may be far from perfect, but God is. Trust Him, He won't let you down!
"And we know that ALL things work together for GOOD to them that love GOD, to them who are the called according to HIS purpose."
Romans 8:28
