This morning as I left for work, I traveled down the dark county roads that surround my house. I work in a large city about an hour away from home, and the first leg of my trip is several miles of back roads where farmer's fields and some woods are the only things to be seen.
As I started driving, I turned on the radio to a channel in the city and listened to the traffic report. I heard about wrecks and construction happening an hour away from me, and chuckled to myself as I looked out the window across an empty field. I was no where close to the traffic, but I was focused on it.
Why? Because I was headed that direction.
While I had to pay attention to my current surroundings, I was focused on where I was going.
As I ponder my walk with Jesus, I realize how much this small truth hits home. We should be paying attention to our surroundings on the battlefield today, but we should be focused on where we’re going.
No matter where you find yourself this evening, you aren’t stuck there. We’re in the midst of a battle, but the good news is that we’re in the midst of a battle where the outcome has already been promised.
Look beyond your current circumstances and think about where you’re going. Continue fighting for truth, and remember that God has promised victory.
If the journey feels extra long this evening, take a moment and think about the final destination.
We’re headed in that direction, and WE WIN!
“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things”
Philippians 4:8
