The Enemy is Like a Weed...
The last few evenings I've spent some time tilling up the garden and getting things ready for this year’s crop. I love this time of year; there’s something about the smell of fresh turned dirt that makes me feel accomplished.
One thing's for sure: Weeds are plentiful and grow quickly. Tending a garden is a constant cycle of protecting the plants while removing the weeds.
Weeds grow in the ground because of sin; God said we would sweat to grow our food in this life (see Genesis 3:17-19).
Much in the same way, the enemy is roaming this earth today because of sin; God said we don't fight against flesh and blood but would fight against spiritual wickedness in this life (see Ephesians 6:12).
Weeds constantly pop up, but a gardener knows how to remove them.
The enemy constantly attempts to distract and derail us, but God knows how to remove them. In fact, He's already won the war.
Fighting weeds can be exhausting, but necessary for future crops; fighting the enemy can be exhausting, but necessary for future generations.
Someday weeds and the enemy will be gone forever, but until then we must continue to fight the weeds for the garden's sake; we must continue to fight the enemy for the truth's sake.
Gardens are worth the work.
TRUTH is worth the work.
Let's stay focused and be encouraged, friends...we've won!
Let's keep fighting together.
